Gilpin Hotel & Lake House is a five star, family-run hotel near Windermere, with a great team and a friendly environment. Our housekeeping department is a busy hub of activity, so you’ll never be bored!
We have 31 individually styled bedrooms so if you’re a secret interior designer at heart, our hotel is full of inspiration. We’re like no other hotel, we have lots of little quirks, personality and luxury in our rooms – just one reason why our housekeeping team enjoy working in this area.
At Gilpin we also look after each other, with each head of department (HOD) encouraged to take care of their teams - not just as employees, but as individual people. Our HODs have frequent informal chats with their staff so that they're aware of any personal issues they may be dealing with, whether they are away from home and live in staff accommodation, or live elsewhere and may have families and other responsibilities. Likewise our HODs are a team in themselves, and look to each other for support and guidance when needed.
For us the ‘team’ is the very core of Gilpin, so we spend a lot of time and energy trying to ensure that we have a happy and harmonious team throughout the hotel. Amongst other things, your days will entail:
- Morning debriefs with your team, to ensure that they are set for the day ahead
- Training, teaching techniques to make the best of our beautiful rooms
- Checking every room to ensure standards are kept at the very highest level, and helping them out if needed
- Maintenance, liaising with the Gilpin maintenance team to make sure everything works perfectly, as well as with outside contractors for window cleaning, carpet and upholstery cleaning etc.
- Managing the housekeeping rota and holidays
- Managing guest laundry, housekeeping stock, staff accommodation
- Ensuring that procedures and relevant electronic checklists are completed to keep documentation up to date.
- Engaging with guests and colleagues in other areas of the hotel throughout the day
What to expect?
- Pride, passion & commitment
- Training & development
- Potential for your future
- Friendship & laughter
All of the team are encouraged to get to know our guests, many of whom return to Gilpin again and again, and great friendships are formed within the team here at Gilpin. We hope that you will enjoy your time with us and gain valuable experience.
