Gilpin Lake House is a special opportunity. With only six suites, a gorgeous spa, and a new twenty cover restaurant opening in May, the guests midweek are mostly couples looking for exceptional, intimate service to reflect the stunning, tranquil setting. At weekends, high end exclusive-use bookings require elegant, sensational celebrations. Boutique it may be, but it punches well above its weight with a turnover expected to achieve over £3m by 2023.

Working very closely with the family, MD and Executive Team at Gilpin Hotel, the role of General Manager of Gilpin Lake House is a very hands on, guest focussed role, providing an exquisite hospitality experience for our guests from the moment they enter through the gates at the Lake House to the time they depart.

Encompassing managing the property and estate, the team, the service and guest experience, the Lake House GM oversees the efficient day-to-day running of the Lake House and its events, including the new restaurant. Every day will be different - this is a broad and varied role including:

GUEST FOCUS

Deliver discreet, personalised five star service to our guests with a professional but warm and friendly approach, and immaculate attention to detail
Attend to guest feedback efficiently, immediately creating solutions to any issues
Work alongside the kitchen team to deliver exceptional restaurant service
Liaise with the main hotel for individual guest’s dining requirements and logistics

LIAISE
Attending morning meetings and weekly function meetings (or organising a member of the team to attend and report back)
Work closely with the Sales and Events Manager and the kitchen teams for events
Work with Reservations / Sales Manager at GH to encourage healthy occupancy

INSPIRE
Bring out the best in your team, driving enthusiasm and passion
Mentoring, training, developing and driving your team
Implementing new procedures with SOPs, ensuring training is completed and updated, and promotions attained

MANAGE
Oversee and manage all aspects of operations, from individual couples to Weddings and Events ranging from 2 - 120 people
Recruit, retain and manage the Lake House team
Ensure schedules are up to date, within budget, with the right amount of staff to offer 5 star service
Ensure that the Lake House is operating within budgetary controls and meeting KPIs
Be an emergency on-call contact for events at the Lake House
Ensuring weekly and monthly tests are done and accurately recorded
Reporting of maintenance issues
Liaise with the Estate Manager for large scale maintenance project


SALARY and PERKS
Salary £40-£50k plus bonus
