As an association we have created a variety of fast, easy and engaging tools to promote our members businesses to millions, through our marketing campaign #RealLakes.
The majority of the Real Lakes marketing campaign is actioned September to February as the ‘Winter Campaign’, set up support members most through the quiet period. Although marketing activity, particularly digitally and on social media does continue consistently throughout the year.
Real Lakes supports each of our member’s individual marketing objectives while also promoting the Lake District as a destination, the Real Lakes website and app.
As a member you can promote your business through Real Lakes at no extra cost as frequently as you like.
#RealLakes marketing channels include...
Every member has a webpage on www.reallakedistrict.co.uk, each with a link to their individual business website. The website also promotes member offers and has a blog which has at least two new posts a month. Some blog posts are specific to a single member, others cover multiple members. Members can request and schedule to have blogs written about their business. You can view the blog here.
The Real Lake District Facebook page has over 60K followers, you can view it here @reallakedistrict. This is a hugely effective marketing tool that supports each of our members social media communications, while also promoting the real lakes website, app and blog. You can request to have your business posts shared on Real Lakes Facebook page, and you can run competitions. These Facebook competitions are fantastic for individual member exposure, reaching tens of thousands, while also driving traffic to individual member websites or Facebook pages.
The Real Lakes Instagram @reallakedistrict currently has over 3K followers and is growing fast. You can have your business’ images, offers and promotions shared on the Real Lakes instagram page as often as you wish. We also share landscape images of the Lake District on Instagram promoting it as an amazing holiday destination.
The Real Lakes Twitter has over 4K followers and like on the Facebook page and Instagram, each member can request to have their individual business content shared. We will retweet many of our members posts, while also pushing out tweets to promote the app, blog, website and The Lake District as a destination.
We produce print adverts to run in a variety relevant publications that promote our website and app. We also produce Real Lakes print marketing assets for members to display in their businesses to drive app downloads and website visits. This year we are introducing outdoor advertising to the mix and will be promoting Real Lakes on buses and at train stations across the Lake District.
There are multiple pay per click Google ad campaigns that run consistently through the Winter Campaign to maximise website visits, app downloads and also to capture potential customers searching for services that our members offer. We refresh the PPC campaign messages in light of what our members are offering/promoting. For example we currently have campaigns with themes such as ‘Adventure Activities’, ‘Romance Breaks’, ‘Spa Deals’ which direct users to relevant pages on the Real Lakes website, such as our listings of member hotels or attractions.
